Conditions

Professor

– Record of original and internationally-recognized achievement in his/her field, and demonstrable outstanding academic leadership;

– Full professors at universities in China or abroad, or with equivalent appointment standards, or with equivalent positions or levels at research institutions in China and abroad.

Associate Professor

– With a solid foundation of professional knowledge, A PhD granted by a university (research institute), with experience of post-doctoral research or at least two years’ experience of research.

– With strong educational and teaching abilities, the capacity to independently conduct high-level academic work and demonstrable strong academic leadership, and great potential to top his/her field in the future Tenured professors;

-Associate professors at universities in China or abroad, or with equivalent appointment standards, or with equivalent positions or levels at research institutions in China and abroad.

Assistant Professor

– With a solid foundation of professional knowledge, A PhD granted by a university (research institute), with experience of post-doctoral research or at least two years’ experience of research.

– Demonstrating strong educational, teaching, and academic innovation abilities, and great potential to top his/her field in the future Tenured professors;

-Assistant professors at universities in China or abroad, or with equivalent appointment standards, or with equivalent positions or levels at research institutions in China and abroad.

The recruitment process consists of application material preliminary selection and interview. The Finnish Institute for Educational Research is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher in research on cultural literacy and social inclusion starting November 1, 2024 (or as agreed) until December 31, 2026.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will work in the Horizon Europe-funded project Advancing Cultural Literacy for Social Inclusion through Dialogical Arts Education (d@rts) and other similar tasks. The d@rts project investigates how performing arts education in formal and non-formal contexts (all levels of education) can reimagine cultural literacy as a dialogical practice, that enhances social cohesion and inclusion. The project aims to understand how cultural literacy competence is formed in the context of performing arts education (music, dance, drama) build tools for assessing cultural literacy, and give policy recommendations that can build long-term social inclusion.

The appointee will assist in providing support to visiting professors, executive administrators and conference/ symposia distinguished presenters, keynote speakers and others; carrying out general administrative duties (e.g. arranging meetings/events/visits, data manipulation, system work and office management); assisting with budget administration, financial accounting, and audit reports, as well as coordinating fee payment to internal and external parties; assisting in maintaining and updating the Centre’s webpages, listservs, social media and other communication channels; keeping archives and correspondence of the Centre’s initiatives; working collaboratively as a team member in the Centre’s activities; working closely with internal and external parties in discharging the responsibilities; and performing any other duties as assigned by the Centre Co-Directors or their delegates.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree with several years of post-qualification work experience, preferably in tertiary institutions. Immediate availability is an advantage. Applicants should be highly proficient in both English and Chinese (including Putonghua). They should have strong skills in interpersonal communication, time management, problem-solving, organization and IT. They should also be a good team player, highly attentive to details, self-motivated, and able to work under strict timelines.

The Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) will assist in contributing to and managing higher education research projects sponsored by The Education University of Hong Kong, the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, and other local and international research and development agencies.

The PDF will participate in designing and implementing innovative initiatives focused on advancing higher education leadership and policy studies in Hong Kong, GBA, Greater China and the world. He/she will work with the CHELPS co-directors on the design and implementation of summer institutes, and executive leadership programmes, as well as contribute to the delivery of a new Master of Arts programme.

The appointee will coordinate research events on campus, such as higher education conferences, dialogue series, reading groups, seminars or webinars. He/she will act as a managing editorial assistant for CHELPS e-journals, including Academic Praxis and Universities and Intellectuals. He/she will support the development of electronic marketing resources and websites at CHELPS, the new Master of Arts programme and other emerging programmes.

Applicants should have a Doctoral Degree, preferably in Higher Education or a relevant cognate discipline (e.g., sociology). They should have knowledge of requirements in international peer review and publications, and post-graduate education in organization, management, leadership, and policy studies. They should be able to conduct advanced qualitative and/or quantitative analyses, such as regression, ANOVAs, path analysis, social network analysis, case studies, and SEM.

Applicants should have excellent writing skills in English, be able to guide research assistants and student helpers in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, and be able to accomplish tasks independently and collaboratively. They should have leadership qualities, as they may be appointed to supervise a project support staff, an academic programme support staff and student helpers (if any) to ensure the smooth running of the Centre. They should have strong interpersonal communication, time management, problem-solving, organization and IT skills. They should be a good team player, highly attentive to details, self-motivated, and able to work under strict timelines.
